Allow me to introduce myself... In case we haven't met, my name is Emerald. I am the Florist and founder of Emerald La Fleur. I recently moved to Cincinnati, in September 2023, after living in Los Angeles for 20 years. I was that flower lady who rides her bike to Trader Joes on 3rd and Fairfax Ave and puts all the flowers on her bike basket. I have always loved picking out flowers and arranging them and I have hoped that one day I could make it a real job! Well, I already have a full time job as the CFO of our Entertainment companies. But after moving to Cincinnati, it opened new doors and opportunities for me to do more and pursue my other passions in life!
I had the idea of starting a Florist studio / Online Gift shop for a while now but finally given it some serious thought and planning at the end of November 2023. I was baking cupcakes just for fun one day and the idea of gifting cupcakes to family and friends for the holidays sounded so good at the time. Have you ever had flowers delivered to you with a box of cupcakes? I haven't! I have probably gotten a box of chocolates, but never cupcakes. I mean, who doesn't love cupcakes?
Anyway, it got my wheels spinning! Since I already love flower arranging, I thought adding cupcakes would be a great addition to my online gift shop. Fast forward to January, after more research and registrations, it was time to bring the idea to life. I have been working on this site for a few weeks now and I am set to launch it on February 21, 2024.
I have to say I am equally excited and nervous at the same time. My husband has been really supportive since the beginning of this process and my son has been really encouraging as well. But I can't help but feel anxious at times, especially when I know this is a big leap for me. I am basically putting myself out there for people who have no idea who I am and have no obligation to support me.
What keeps me motivated is just the fact that I am doing this for myself. I love flowers and making people smile so much that the labor and hours spent on making this dream happen becomes irrelevant. I believe that you have to live your life doing what you love and so whatever I do moving forward, will have to be something I am really passionate about or something that brings me joy and pride.
As everything in this world, nothing worthwhile comes easy and every success comes with challenges, but here is to hoping and praying that I am ready for it and that I have enough people who will support me and make this new adventure an enjoyable one!
